Who is the best team now in the NHL?

Who is the best team in the NHL? I think the top three are the Sharks, Red Wings, and the Bruins. I would have to go with the Sharks.

I'm a huge sharks fan (living near San Jose and all), but you gotta give the nod to Detroit as the reigning champs.... and all they did was get better with Hossa. They're veterans are just waiting till the playoffs to step it up a notch.

If I'm voting with my heart ... the picture says it all!
If I'm voting with my head, I've gotta say that I think Boston is one of the strongest teams in the NHL right now. San Jose and Detroit are obvious picks but teams heating up towards the playoffs like the Hurricanes/Penguins/Canucks can't be ignored either! The Ducks might not make the playoffs but they've been hot of late too!

PS: being a Flames fan and living in Vancouver means I absolutely HATE the Canucks!!!!

haha i know, finally some hockey chatter! btw the canucks and flames are going down to the wire, good battle there, wish i could say I favored one. all sharks for me!

So how do you think your Sharks rate this year?

I can't believe how tight the league is ... some hate the salary cap era and the "3 point games" but you can't argue with how competitive it has made the league.

Detroit fighting for a playoff spot? Colorado third overall in the west? Nashville and the Kings right in the thick of things. If you love the sport of hockey you gotta love it. I think my Flames defensive core being snubbed for the Canadian Olympic team is going to make them want to prove why they should have been there; be interesting to see what happens between now and the Olympic break.
