Top 5 Sleepers (click to view top 10)

Rodney Stuckey

Stuckey was a bonified sleeper last season and he has made the cut yet again thanks to the departure of this decade's biggest ball-hog (a.k.a. Allen Iverson). Taking the reigns as the full time PG will lead to more minutes, which means a bit more of every stat, especially assists.

Shane Battier

Simply put, "Houston, we have a problem." This spot could of gone to Trevor Ariza as well because everyone on the injury depleted Rockets is going to have to step up. Battier's well-rounded game has always made him quite serviceable to those in need of threes, steals, and blocks, but now with some a bit of the scoring load on his shoulders, don't be surprised if he scores in the teens this season.

Emeka Okafor

The trade that sent Okafor to New Orleans was a slam dunk for fantasy owners. If Chris Paul could make Tyson Chandler a scoring center, imagine what he can do for Emeka's game... can you say, "Alley-Oop!"

Anthony Randolph

A favorite on everyone's sleeper list coming into this season, and for good reason. Choke on these numbers: Over the second half of last season he averaged 11 points and 8 rebounds with 1+ in each of the defensive categories. Still not convinced? How about these summer league digits to make your mouth water: 26.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2.2 steals!

Courtney Lee

With a trade to the new look (or should I say, "no look") Nets, Lee finds himself in a position to prosper. Someone not named Devin Harris going to have to score in New Jersey, and my vote goes to the 6 foot 5 sophomore who can run like the wind. Expect efficient numbers and strong threes and steals for cheap.

Jason Thompson

Sacramento's man-beast, Jason Thompson, is about to be set loose (city officials have been warned). If he can stay out of foul trouble (averaged an amazing 3.8 per game last season!), Thompson will post a double-double this season... he nearly did last season as a rookie. You've been warned.

Michael Beasley

Last year's number 2 overall pick will finally be a full time starter (fantasy managers everywhere rejoice). With the departure of "Peanut Butter and Jamario" Moon, Beasley will get 30+ minutes a night to prove himself. In his starts last year, Michael posted 17 points and 7 rebounds a game with nearly 1 three, steal, and block. Can you say sophomore breakout?

Aaron Brooks

Rinse and repeat what I said about Battier. With no McGrady, Yao, or Rafer, Brooks is left to handle the ball in Houston. He'll get you points and threes, throw in a few assists, and come at a dirt-cheap price.

Louis Williams

Louis is essentially Aaron Brooks part II, but perhaps better. With a bit more height and scoring ability, Williams will be running the point in Philadelphia now that Andre Miller has been moved out. In April, this score-first point guard averaged 18 points and 2 steals a game.

Kirk Hinrich

Captain Kirk is back! With Ben Gordon finally gone, the log jam in Chicago is much clearer. Hinrich will be sharing minutes with Rose and Salmons, but that's 96 minutes/game to go around, meaning Kirk should land at leat 30. If so, he should return to his 2007-08 form where he averaged 12 points, 6 assists, 1 three and 1 steal a game.

Top 5 Busts (click to view top 10)

Andre Miller

Andre just left the ballhandler-less 76ers to join the much more talented Portland Blazers. With Brandon Roy demanding the rock (deservedly so) and Steve Blake demanding threes (not so deserved), Miller's numbers are destined to take a hit.

Jameer Nelson

Nelson played one amazing half of basketball last season. But, lord knows he won't be able to repeat it again, this time for an entire season. Two reasons: 1. He's coming back from an injury, and 2. He's not that good!

Paul Milsap

As much as I love "Mansap" I can't endorse him. With a healthy Carlos Boozer you can expect Paul to lose at least 5 minutes a game. Check his March and April numbers for evidence of such... be happy with 10 and 6 if you're drafting him.

Ben Gordon

"Little" Ben will make some amazing shots hear and there, but that's about it. Although a great scorer, Stuckey and Hamilton hold a bit more clout with the Pistons, so Gordon will be forced to come off the bench again in Detroit.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas

The 7 foot 3 giraffe that is Zydrunas Ilgauskas isn't quite as girthy as his new teammate, the "Diesel!" As if age and health weren't catching up to him enough, the arrival of Shaq should land "The Big-Z" on your fantasy waivers.

Mike Bibby

We finally saw signs of decline from the ageless Bibby last season. Post all-star break his numbers were down across the board. Now, with the arrival of Jamal Crawford in Atlanta, his minutes will also take a hit.

Andre Igoudala

As much as I love him, with Andre Miller gone and Elton Brand back, I see very little flow to this athlete's game. Last year we saw the struggles the presence of Brand brought to Iggy, who averaged 13 points per game over the first two months of last season. This year, without a passing point guard on the squad, don't expect many easy shots either.

Tyson Chandler

On the flip side of the Okafor trade sits Tyson. Everything I said about Emeka being a sleeper, the opposite can be said for Chandler. With no more Paul at the helm, he'll get you rebounds, but don't expect much else.

O.J. Mayo

OJ is a stud, but for fantasy purposes all he really does is score. Unfortunately, the arrival of Zach Randolph and Allen Iverson (senior ball hog) will severly limit his shots. I expect a sophomore slump here, stay clear of the hype.

Hedo Turkoglu

Hedo had one fluke year on a run and gun team, and now he's earned a pick in the first 6 rounds? I think not. To make matters worse, he now finds himself paired with Jose Calderon and Chris Bosh in Toronto who work a great 1-2 game... leaving Turkey the odd man out.
